According to a Growth Analysis Study to be presented to city council Monday, the population of St. Thomas is now expected to almost double by 2051.
The study, undertaken by Watson & Associates, pegs the population climbing to 79,500 in three decades.
A similar study undertaken before the PowerCo EV battery plant announcement last year predicted a population of 65,100 by 2051.
According to the 2021 Census, the city’s population was just under 43,000.
