Last summer at Port Stanley Festival Theatre saw the world premiere of “The Beaver Club” written by up and coming playwright Barb Scheffler.
It’s a four women show that follows neighbours Eunice, Karen, Radiance and Yvette as they scrapbook, squabble and skinny dip their way from Toronto to Dildo, Newfoundland.
As this disparate group of four unbelievable women embark on the riotous cross country road trip, members of the Beaver Club band together to find strength in numbers as they tackle the world and hope to find a happy ending in Dildo.
Those who didn’t get a chance to take in the performance last season are in luck as the four women show returns to the village May 21st.
Artistic Director Liz Gilroy is back directing and shared how incredible it is to work alongside theses actors.
Susan JohnstonCollins as the “tell it like it is” Newfoundlander Eunice, Sarah Machin Gale as the free spirit Radiance, Danielle Nicole as Yvette the colourful French-Canadian and Rennie Wilkinson as the straightlaced Karen.
Another highlight for Gilroy last year was the way their team came together to come up with how exactly they could depict a road trip, while still being confined to the Port Stanley Festival Theatre stage.
“The Beaver Club” by Barb Scheffler returns to the stage May 21st through June 1st, with matinee and evening shows available.
