A St. Thomas man happily drove to Chatham to pick up almost $75,000 in winnings.
Jason Howes won $74,690 last Friday in the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation’s Igniting Healthcare Spring 50/50 grand prize jackpot.
He noted, “I grew up in Chatham-Kent and just moved to St. Thomas last year for work, so I’ve always bought tickets for these 50/50s as a way to support this hospital that’s been so good to me and to my family.”
He added, “I never really thought that there was a chance that I would actually win, so when I got the call, I was definitely speechless. I’m still having a hard time believing that this is real.”
He says once he and his wife finish celebrating their son’s third birthday, the plan is to buy a smoker and Jason can use some of the winnings to obtain his pilot’s license.
