In the strict sense of the name, Tropic of Canada is not a geographical entity. You would be thinking of the Tropic of Cancer, the earth’s northernmost circle of latitude where the sun can be seen directly overhead.
Tropic of Canada is located at the far western boundary of Elgin county and is a company dedicated to bringing both beauty and produce to your garden.
Philip Wilson explains the greenhouse operation offers unique and hard-to-find tropical plants, fruits and spices Canadian home gardeners.
Wilson explains they have just completed a 7,000 sq. ft. addition with plans to expand further.
All their plants are grown without the use of pesticides. All their stock is grown from tissue-cultured, virus-free plants which are raised in the U.S and then imported.
Tropic of Canada grows them out and offers them for sale in containers.
As for the future, Wilson advises produce is on the radar screen.
With the addition of the new greenhouse and plenty of organizing over the winter, Tropic of Canada is preparing to gear up once again this month.
