Farming has long had a reputation as one of the more hazardous occupations in the Canadian workforce, with the potential for injury or death from a variety of scenarios: road travel, tractor roll-overs and power-take-off shaft threats, grain storage mishaps and dangers from entry into manure storage units.
According to figures from Canadian Agricultural Injury Reporting (CAIR), from 2011 to 2020, there were 624 agriculture-related fatalities in the country.
Elite Agri Solutions offers a variety of services to farm producers and we spoke with CEO Jonathan Giret about the origins of the company.
Although based in Glencoe, many of their clients are in Elgin county however they deal with producers across the province.
Their services delve into nutrient management, grant writing and health and safety issues. We asked Giret about what he sees as key concerns this year and down the road.

We asked Giret to describe the working relationship between a client and the staff at Elite Agri Solutions, particularly with health and safety matters.
Giret concludes, “at Elite Agri Solutions, one of our main focuses is to help Ontario farms make the transition to a low-carbon economy for the best possible value. We want to create an environment for the development and adoption of clean technology that helps promote sustainable growth and aligns our agricultural sector with Canada’s climate goals.”
