Two people were taken to hospital for minor burns and a half-dozen cats, a dog and a bird were safely rescued after a house fire at 16 Locust Street early this morning.
Firefighters arrived around 6:30 a.m. and quickly extinguished a front porch fire.
No cause has yet been determined and no estimate of damage to the home.
St. Thomas Fire Prevention Officer Shannon Ashton reminds residents to ensure their smoke detectors and CO alarms are in good working order.
This followed two trips to the CN Rail yard late Thursday night and again around 3 a.m. Friday to deal with fires in a pile of railway ties.
Police are investigating these two fires.
