It’s “Your Health, Your Wellness Day” here on 94.1 myFM where we’ll be shining a spotlight on some of the amazing local businesses putting a focus on the health and well being of their clients.
The doctors and staff at Family Health Options in St. Thomas subscribe to a simple, but powerful mission statement. To provide the people of our community with the education and resources necessary to achieve and maintain all of their health goals.
Founder Dr. Steven Perry (pictured at left) initially set up shop as Soteria Health Centres as a home for his chiropractic practice. He always envisioned a team approach to natural health care and that has been the inspiration for Family Health Options.
So, in addition to chiropractic services, clients can take advantage of a menu of naturopathic services like osteopathy, acupuncture and massage therapy, explains Dr. Perry.
Dr. Gregory Johnston (pictured below), a partner at Family Health Options, relies on the use of “diversified technique,” which allows for the integration of the best aspects of the various chiropractic techniques into an individualized treatment program for each patient.
One specialized area at Family Health Options is naturopathic medicine, which focuses on prevention and using natural substances and treatments, explains Dr. Johnston.
Motor vehicle accidents can involve a variety of injuries including whiplash, back pain, headaches, concussions, and various other types of injuries. Chiropractors are well trained and authorized to assess and treat most injuries resulting from motor vehicle collisions.
Dr. Perry explains situations in which a chiropractor becomes a primary care provider.
However, adds Dr. Johnston, after a through evaluation, continued treatment may involve working in cooperation with an individual’s family doctor.
