Captain Chris Bruinink of Mount Brydges, passed away from cancer at the age of 51 back in November of last year, and Christy Bruinink, wife of the late captain is hosting a special event in his honour on March 6th and 7th.
When asked why this was such an important thing to do, not only in honour of Chris, but for all the firefighters out there fighting against different forms of cancer, Christy shared her reasoning.
Christy says by organizing this event it’s a simple way to give back to the community that has showed her and her family so much support in their time of need.
She says by giving blood you are doing so much more for a family than you might realize.
In addition to the blood donation clinic, Christy shared that she has started a new memorial fund project that anyone is able to join.
Christy say the overwhelming support for not only the blood donation clinic, but the support herself and her family has been receiving over the past few months has been truly touching.
The blood donation even will take place on March 6th and 7th from 3 until 5 p.m. at 820 Wharncliffe Road South in London.
You can book your appointment through the give blood app, or by visiting blood.ca.
