The Transforming Tomorrow Campaign currently underway at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital received a significant boost at the end of 2023.
A $30,000 donations was presented to our hospital on behalf of the St. Thomas Railway City Rotary Club as they look to invest in the long term health and well-being of our entire community.
“As Rotarians, we believe it’s our duty to serve and improve the communities in which we live,” said Railway City Rotary Club President, Dagmar Wendt. “We are proud to support our local hospital’s efforts in acquiring MRI imaging technology. By investing in this critical equipment, we are investing in the long term health and well-being of our entire community.”
The Transforming Tomorrow Campaign will bring Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology to STEGH, as well as enhance and expand the entire Diagnostic Imaging Department, with improvements to CT, nuclear medicine, x-ray and ultrasound.
“Healthcare funding has always been a partnership between the community and the provincial government,” explained Jeff Yurek, Chair of the Transforming Tomorrow Campaign. “While the government funds the operating costs of this equipment, we need community donations, like the one we are celebrating today, to support the purchase and installation of the equipment.”
Funds were raised from the club’s Oktoberfest event, as well as through partnerships with Jackpot City Gaming and Wildflowers Farm markets.
