St. Joe’s was hard at work the past weeks to ensure the student body had a great send-off into the Christmas break! The first of the initiatives was the Toys for Tots toy drive which helped St. Joe’s give back to the community. By the end of the toy drive on Wednesday, the box was overflowing with the generosity of the students.
Next, a door-decorating contest began and many classes got straight to work on some amazing creations. The contest will be judged on Friday to determine which homeroom is bringing the most Christmas cheer to the school.
On Monday, the council kept students on their toes with a slew of Christmas-themed cahoots throughout the lunches. Students also had the opportunity of getting some free coffee given generously by a local Starbucks.
On the same day, the council began selling Jingle Bites, a Christmas-themed take on candy grams, to be delivered on Friday. Bringing a common household tradition to the school, an elf was hidden around the school every day with the first to find him receiving a reward from the Student Council.
On Tuesday, the Student Council sold hot chocolate for 50 cents on all three lunches. At the same time, Ram Man was walking around the school getting selfies clad in his Santa Claus costume.
The talented people in the arts department gave a show for the community with their art displays and concert in the evening.
Wednesday was the day of the gingerbread house competition, where a truly delicious creation was able to bring home some rewards for its maker.
On the second to last day of school before the break, students had a packed schedule with many places to be and lots of food to enjoy. In the morning, a liturgy led by Father Peter Keller celebrated the faith of the student body in preparation for the Christmas season.
After the liturgy, the students had the opportunity to buy a delicious Christmas feast prepared by the hospitality students with enough for everyone.
Thursday’s last activity was the school Talent Show where students and teachers alike were able to demonstrate their talents onstage for the whole school to see. With acts from students, a student band, teachers, a teacher band, and the Student Council, every student was able to experience a wide variety of amazing performances prepared for them by their peers and educators.
Finally, Friday brings a free festive dress-down day for students to showcase their festive fashion just before the holidays. Friday also sees the door-decorating contest judged and the Jingle Bites handed out to the lucky students.
All in all, every Ram is excited for the holidays and the school community has done a great job getting every student ready for Christmas this coming Monday.
