With the big day approaching, here’s what’s open and what’s closed in St. Thomas and Elgin County on Christmas Boxing Day.
St. Thomas City Hall and Social Services Offices will be closed between December 25th and January 1st, with regular hours resuming on the 2nd.
The City of St. Thomas Community Recycling Centre will also be taking a festive break as of December 23rd and will reopen on the 27th.
Railway City Transit will also be shutting down for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Municipal Offices in Aylmer and Central Elgin will be closed as of noon on December 22nd and will reopen January 2nd. Arenas in Central Elgin will also be closed December 24-26, 31, and January 1st.
Local libraries will be taking a small break as well with the St. Thomas Public Library closed December 23-26, 31, and January 1st. Elgin County Libraries will be closed as of 1 p.m. on December 23rd and will reopen for regular hours beginning January 2nd.
All grocery stores such as The Real Canadian Superstore, Walmart, Metro, M&M Food Market, FreshCo, Foodbasics, and Foodland will be closed on Christmas Day but will reopen on boxing day.
Shoppers Drug Mart at 410 Talbot Street will be open until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, from noon until 5 p.m. Christmas Day and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Boxing Day.
Briwood will be open until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will reopen on Boxing Day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The LCBO and Beer Store will each be open until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve but will then be closed Christmas and Boxing Day.
Lynhurst Esso and Variety will be open until 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Chad wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday from the Ghattas family and their staff!
