St. Thomas native Emma Reinke and the Canadian Women’s Goalball team’s gold medal win last month at the Parapan Am Games has earned them additional recognition.
The squad is one of 10 finalists in the Canadian Sports Awards’ People’s Choice Most Trending Moment category.
We spoke with Reinke after the games in Santiago to capture the emotion of winning gold.
Created in 2020, the Most Trending Moment Award honours a current or retired Canadian national team athlete or athletes who captured the virtual world by storm.
In their last chance to qualify for the Paris 2024 Paralympics, Team Canada upset the U.S. 4-3 in the gold medal game.
myFM asked Reinke what the reaction was to the win back in Ottawa where she attends Carleton University.
Reinke says the Paris Games will be a turning point for her and her teammates.
