St. Thomas Optimist Club
The 37th annual St. Thomas Optimist Santa Claus Parade will take over Talbot Street Saturday evening, helping officially welcome the holiday season to the Railway City.
We sat down with Optimist Club member Earl Taylor, who shared a little history about this cherished tradition.
The parade will be following the traditional route- west down Talbot Street from First Ave to Elgin Street, with Taylor noting the best spots for viewing.
This year’s theme is “The Songs of Christmas”, which the over 60 entries will be trying to following. Taylor says they’re expecting a wide range of creativity for 2023.
As in years past, the St Thomas Fire Department will be on hand collecting donations in support of our local food banks and programs. Taylor explains what you should do if you’re looking to give back.
And speaking of safety issues, Taylor reminds that throwing or giving out of candy will not be permitted.
Taylor has assured that Santa has confirmed his attendance for Saturday, so if you haven’t already, get your letters ready!
