The latest ‘Living Wage’ report has been released and it has shown an increase in all regions of Ontario.
After the numbers were crunched, the Ontario Living Wage Network says you have to earn at least $18.85 an hour to make ends meet in our area- an increase of 4.4% over 2022’s rate of $18.05.
Communications Coordinator Craig Pickthorne says the takeaway from this data is simple.
Pickthorne adds while he doesn’t expect the government to make the minimum wage, a living wage anytime soon, there are things they can do.
The GTA has the highest rate at $25.05 and the Southwest (Windsor) coming in at $18.65. Ontario’s third highest rate – Ottawa – saw the largest increase over last year of 12 percent, going up to $21.95 from $19.60.
