The City of St. Thomas began their fall leaf and yard waste collection this week, and now it’s Elgin county’s turn.
The Municipality of Central Elgin has announced that beginning October 30th, residents in built up areas will be able to leave paper yard waste bags on the curb to be collected the next 4 Mondays.
Staff asks that all bags be on the curb for collection by 7 a.m. and advise that no bag tag is required.
In the Town of Aylmer, yard waste collection is set to run weekdays until November 17th weather dependent. There is no defined route, however several trips will be made throughout the Town during the specified dates.
Those in Southwold and other parts of the county can drop off a maximum of 5 bags free of charge to the St. Thomas Community Recycling Centre.
Acceptable Material includes: Grass, leaves, weeds, plants and brush (no longer than 3 feet and no thicker than 2 inches in diameter).
