It may be the week before Halloween, but the Port Stanley Lions and Lioness clubs are getting ready for Christmas!
The 25th Annual Dickens Day Night Parade has been set for Friday, November 24th and will mark the official launch of the holiday season for many in Elgin County.
As always the parade will kick off at 7 p.m. from Foodland at 291 Colborne Street and run along Stanley Street to Colborne Street, across the lift bridge and south on William Street to Mackie’s.
A number of groups have already signed on to take part, including the Aylmer Shriners minibikes, the Tomato Soup Band, the Port Stanley Sailors, the Mocha Trumpet Band and Mocha Love Bugs, the St. Thomas Police Pipe and Drums, and the St. Thomas Jeeps Club.
Prizes will be awarded in four categories, including Most Victorian; Winter Wonderland; Best Youth; and Best Walker.
Anyone interested in adding a float to the Dickens Day Night Parade is asked to contact organizer Joe Konecny at konecny1071@gmail.com.
