It’s small business week, a national celebration of Canadian entrepreneurs.
myFM and the Small Business Enterprise Centre have partnered once again this year to share the stories of our small business owners.
Today we salute Grassroots Restaurant who opened their doors at 100 Wilson Ave in St. Thomas just 13 days ago.
You may be familiar with Owners Terrie Collard and Rob Lampman, who also own and operate Two Forks in the Village of Port Stanley.
The pair wanted to bring a new and unique dining experience to the city, something Collard says was lacking in St. Thomas.
Adding that the lack of options in the area really pushed them to take this next step in their business journey.
Lampman, who is also the Executive Chef at both restaurants, had the honour of choosing the name this time around. He explains how Grassroots came to be.
Also showcased at Grassroots is a dry ager that acts as their feature wall. Well it’s an amazing sight to see, Lampman explains its real purpose.
With local and quality products stocked inside, Terrie explains how the pricing on their menu reflects all the hard work that goes into their food.
As far as those who frequent Two Forks, the pair explain both the similarities and differences customers may notice between the restaurants.
Collard notes the community support thus far has been amazing but joked about a common misconception they’ve been hearing.
If you do want to stop in for a mouth watering meal however, Grassroots is open Monday to Saturday from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Collard adds that hours will remain dependent on the demand they’re seeing, with reservations highly recommended.
