Today myFM is celebrating local coaches and the impact they’ve had on the St. Thomas-Elgin Community with our Hooray for Coaches Day feature, presented by Kenny Insurance Brokers.
Catherine Janssen’s journey into the coaching world is a little different than most. Because as a Certified Cancer Coach, it wasn’t until her own battle with the disease that led her to this rewarding role.
Janssen explains how the unfortunate diagnosis not only resulted in a new business idea and product for cancer patients, but also another avenue to help others.
And while “cancer” is in the title, Janssen notes that her expertise doesn’t focus solely on the disease.
As a retired Registered Nurse who worked in critical care, supporting patients while at their worst has been a part of Janssen’s daily routine for years now. She says one of the driving forces behind her work is the hope that no one would have to go through a battle alone.
Dealing with something as tricky as cancer or a chronic illness is a challenge in itself. However, Janssen details the struggles she faces in her role as a coach.
As far as an accomplishment she’s most proud of, Janssen points to a number of opportunities she’s received as a result.
