The 2023-24 hockey season is just around the corner and if the young girl in your life is looking to get involved in a new sport this winter, the St. Thomas Panthers Girls Hockey Association would be happy to welcome them.
The St. Thomas Panthers offer programming for girls of all ages, with fundamentals beginnings as early as 4 years old and teams spanning through U18.
Panthers Board Member Kelly McFarlane notes that on ice skills development are a staple in their league, pushing the girls to reach their full potential.
But just as important adds McFarlane, is the time spent off the ice, developing an even bigger passion for the game.
Currently the St. Thomas Panthers are hoping to introduce the younger generations to the sport, with a focus on their fundamentals program.
McFarlane explains that fundamentals is open to any girl wishing to learn the sport of hockey, teaching skills from skating to scoring and everything in between.
For those hoping to join a team, McFarlane says plenty of room remains in their U9 divisions.
She notes that while some deadlines have passed, those looking to register for a team or find out more details, can reach out to the league through their website.
For those unsure about a move to girls hockey, McFarlane draws from lived experiences to encourage the jump.
