In the usual tradition, schools would reopen on the Tuesday immediately following Labour Day. However, much like last year, parents will need to exercise patience as they will have to wait one extra day before sending their children back to school.
For students enrolled in the Thames Valley District School Board and the London District Catholic School Board, the offical start of classes will be Wednesday, September 6.
The Tuesday will instead serve as a Professional Activity (PA) day for educators.
In addition to the PA day on September 5, the school boards have scheduled six more professional activity days throughout the academic year.
This alteration in the scheduling has been made in accordance with the goals set by the Ontario government’s Bill 98.
This bill outlines efforts aimed at enhancing academic achievement and job-related skills by mandating public reporting of school boards’ professional development sessions.
