Michelle Palmer-Executive Director of Community Living Elgin and Gary Clarke- Sports Spectacular Chair
As the name suggests, it’s always a Spectacular event. But even more so is the impact it has on our local community.
The 42nd edition of the Sports Spectacular took over the St. Anne’s Centre back on January 19th, bringing in athletes such as Blue Jays pitchers Jordan Romano and Adam Cimber, Leafs legend Doug Gilmour and St. Thomas hockey star Brittney Howard to name a few.
And while it’s an unforgettable evening full of great food and captivating stories, its also a vital fundraiser for our local Special Olympics and Community Living Elgin.
Sports Spectacular Chair Gary Clarke, shares why the cause is so near and dear to his heart.
Through the success of this year’s event, the committee was able to award both Special Olympics St. Thomas and Community Living Elgin with a check for $25,000 each.
This joins the over $750,000 that has been raised through the Sports Spectacular for a variety of projects since its inception back in 1978.
You can learn more about St. Thomas Sports Spectacular here, and be sure to circle Thursday, January 18, 2024 on your calendars as preparations for the 43rd dinner are already underway.
