It was a fun filled day at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School on Wednesday as staff and students participated in their 25th Annual Hike for Mike and Relay for Life.
Roughly 300 participants from over 30 different teams laced up their shoes and hit the track as the local high school raised funds in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
myFM stopped by St. Joe’s to support the Relay and had the chance to speak with Danielle Redman and Zoee Epple, members of the organizing committee.
Redman noted that all of the hard work seemed to pay off!
Staff and students spent the past few months collecting pledges in support of the Canadian Cancer Society and to honour those who have lost their lives to this terrible disease.
St. Joseph’s Catholic High School set an initial fundraising goal of $50,000 and were able to crush that, reaching a whopping $63,000!
While much of the day was spent walking for those ever-so important donations, Epple adds that some fun filled activities kept participants entertained.
While the relay was closed to the public with the exception of those included in the Survivor Victory Lap, if you wish to support the cause, the donation link is still active.
