It’s “The Fundraisers” Day on 94.1 myFM presented by Jackpot Time St. Thomas.
Today we’re shining a light on five individuals or groups who have made a name for themselves through incredible fundraising initiatives that continue to benefit our community.
While giving back may be a part of the mandate at Jackpot Time, the work that the members with the St. Thomas Gaming Association do is done purely out of the goodness of their hearts. It’s a large group, consisting of 87 local not for profit charities and service clubs who volunteer at Jackpot Time in St. Thomas in order to raise funds for community betterment.
This includes for our Food Banks, local Optimists, Lions, and Kinsmen Clubs, School Parent Committees and more.
Sean Ross, Charity Coordinator with the St. Thomas Gaming Association notes that millions of dollars has been handed out locally thanks to the OLG Charitable Gaming Program at Jackpot Time.
It’s a significant amount of money that gets invested into our community, roughly $200,000 a month, and it’s a program Ross is very proud to be a part of.
Ross adds that without these dollars, many of the annual events we love to attend wouldn’t be able to happen.
And while Jackpot Time St. Thomas offers steady monthly funding to their charities, Ross notes that many of them struggle to find volunteers and members.
Ross adds that though these volunteers really are the superheroes of our community, it takes a village for this program to be successful.
Thanks to the countless hours put in by volunteers, the St. Thomas Gaming Association will surpass their next big milestone and will hit the $15 million mark by the end of 2023.
