It’s “The Fundraisers” Day on 94.1 myFM presented by Jackpot Time St. Thomas.
Today we’re shining a light on five individuals or groups who have made a name for themselves through incredible fundraising initiatives that continue to benefit our community.
Jack Ferriman has seemingly spent his entire adult life giving back to the community of St. Thomas-Elgin. It started when he was named Chair of the “‘Give Us Room To Care’’ campaign in support of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, which at the time was the largest ever fundraising campaign to take place in Elgin.
Ferriman explains further.
It turned out to be a huge success, with Ferriman noting it was some of the best times of his life.
And it wasn’t just a few. Ferriman recounts a number of other fundraising campaigns he’s been a part of over the years.
And with a number of local iniatives actively looking for support, Ferriman says it’s important that we give back when we can.
Ferriman adds that one of the difficulties in fundraising is finding the right person to lead the charge, noting it can’t just be anyone.
As far as a moment he’s most proud of over the years, Ferriman says it took place just last month when himself and friend Bob Heath were announced the winners of The Circle of Excellence Master Award for their work with the STEGH Foundation. It recognizes a business, service organization or individual who has made significant – all-encompassing and historic – contributions to our local business community.
Ferriman says it was an honour to be recognized.
