I live and work in the rural community of West Lorne with my family in an old farmhouse we are renovating! Despite full days and lots of action in the house, I have carved out time to work on furniture and learn about business as I go. Years ago, I painted thrifted furniture to furnish my home, and I found I enjoyed it very much. I picked this up again in early 2021, and after I sold my first piece on FB marketplace, I was hooked! Fast forward to summer 2022, and I moved into my own workshop space, and by Nov 2022, I opened the retail doors.
I am inspired by nature and a simple, slower way of life. I think back to when the air was cleaner, and people repaired their possessions and household items. I realize this is my inner Laura Ingles romanticizing that ideal. But that ideal is what drives my work. It helps me balance my life because I don’t rush to finish pieces; I take my time and enjoy the process.
There are many talented, creative women in our communities whom I am so lucky to be getting to know. I hope there will be some collaborations in 2023 and beyond, as West Elgin has much to offer those who live here and those who visit.
