Elgin County, St. Thomas, Rodney, Shedden and Aylmer are under a freezing rain warning.
Precipitation is forecast to begin late this morning or early this afternoon as snow or ice pellets before transitioning to freezing rain later this afternoon. By late evening the temperatures are forecast to rise above zero and the risk for freezing rain will come to an end.
In addition to the freezing rain, strong winds gusting up to 70 km/h are also expected today into tonight.
Freezing rain will lead to ice accretion of 2 to 5 mm. Strong winds and ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
