Chris and Christy Hiemstra bought Clovermead, located just north of Aylmer, in 2000. Since then, the family has made Clovermead a true hidden gem in Elgin County.
Although it’s a very popular destination for thousands of people each year, it’s still considered a hidden gem because of its unique location.
Owner Chris Hiemstra says bees and honey have always been their main business.
Hiemstra says that it was a bus tour in Texas in 2006 that gave them some new ideas, which resulted in their business growing into a destination for the entire family.
Although the adventure farm is closed for the season, Hiemstra says that when they are open there are lots of animals to check out as well.
The adventure farm may be closed, but the Honey Shop will remain open through the winter.
Clovermead’s 24 million bees work hard every day to provide Clovermead’s famous local Summer Blossom Honey. All Clovermead’s honey is pure and unpasteurized. Clovermead also has 12 different honey spreads, from cinnamon, maple, lemon to an interesting sweet heat honey spread, all made with Summer Blossom creamed honey.
