This may be her first run in a municipal election campaign, however Dawn Docker is no stranger to the comings and goings at city hall in St. Thomas.
Docker is seeking election to council because she wants to be part of the city’s strategic planning moving forward.
Her interest in municipal politics dates back to the late 1990s when she was a key figure in efforts to save Alma College.
Docker says she feels comfortable putting her name forward. After all, for the past 20-plus years, the property manager has appeared before council on numerous occasions as a deputation.
Docker has long been known as a heritage advocate for her efforts to save the former school for girls.
Docker’s properties on McIntyre Street overlook the Alma College Square development and she notes she has always been self-employed, adding “I have an entrepreneurial spirit.”
Docker is of 16 hopefuls vying for a seat in the council chamber at St. Thomas city hall.
