It’s Volunteer Appreciation Day on 94.1 myFM presented by Williams Funeral Home.
Today we’re shining a light on five individuals who have made a name for themselves in the community by giving back through a number of great causes.
For Lois Jackson, founder of All Breed Canine Rescue, she can recount the first time the idea for the organization came about.
For those unfamiliar, All Breed Canine Rescue is a small group of volunteers who saw the great need in the community to rescue dogs from local pounds.
She says it all comes down to making sure these dogs are looked after.
And for roughly 23 years, Jackson and her team of volunteers have been putting pressure on St. Thomas City Hall to make the local shelter a better place for the animals being housed there.
Photos and details on the dogs available for adoption are then posted to the All Breed Canine Rescue Facebook group in hopes that the furry friends find their forever homes.
