A St. Thomas firefighter has died in a motorcycle collision last night in the city’s east end.
Emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Elm Street and Coulter Avenue.
Thirty-four-year-old Nicholas Cheeseman – a four-year member of the service – was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire Chief Dave Gregory told myFM the news has deeply impacted his fellow firefighters.
Cheeseman was married with one child with the family residing in Port Stanley.
Gregory added support has flooded in from all corners of city hall.
Elgin OPP are continuing with their investigation.
