A fire at a local insulation manufacturing company on Tuesday resulted in a full callback of off duty St. Thomas firefighters.
Crews responded to Therm-O-Comfort at 75 South Edgeware around 6:45 p.m., with the full callback initiated due to the Heat Warning in effect and the fire being deep seated in the insulation materials, causing smoke to fill the plant.
This also resulted in the difficult task of separating, wetting down, and ensuring the cellulose insulation was fully extinguished.
Thankfully no one working in the plant at the time, resulting in no injuries reported.
The St. Thomas Fire Department note the cause of the fire was found to be accidental in nature, with preliminary damage estimates sitting around $50,000.
