Acknowledging he has big shoes to fill, Rob Flack ensured Elgin-Middlesex-London remained a blue riding in convincing fashion Thursday night.
Flack, with 22,363 votes had a 14,393 vote lead over the NDP’s Andy Kroeker.
Former St. Thomas mayor Heather Jackson under the Liberal banner finished third.
Flack paid tribute to the 11 years former PC MPP Jeff Yurek spent in office representing the riding up until February of this year.
Flack pointed to the strong mandate voters awarded Doug Ford – his second majority government- and noted it is a mandate that will benefit Ontario residents.
But he admitted a lot will be expected of himself and the Ford government.
Flack finished second in London West in last year’s federal election.
He pointed to the importance of St. Thomas in the riding and confirmed that is where his constituency office will be.
