Thousands of members of the Carpenter’s District Council of Ontario, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America are putting down their hammers.
Union members voted 75% to reject the latest offer during contract talks.
CDCO President and Director Mike Yorke spoke with myFM about the decision.
Yorke says taking this action was not an easy choice.
Yorke adds the union, which hasn’t been on strike in 34 years, wants to see wages increased and will fight for what’s fair for members.
The strike by almost 15 thousand carpenters in Ontario could be a big blow for the construction sector.
