A 32 year old male has been charged with aggravated assault following a disturbance outside the local homeless shelter early this morning.
Daniel Corlett is alleged to have struck another man with a large wooden club with a screw sticking out the side, resulting in wounds to the head.
The victim was taken by ambulance to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, while Corlett fled the scene prior to police arriving. He was located and arrested a short time later.
He was charged with one count of aggravated assault and later released with a court date.
