The St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus of Fanshawe College is open for business.
That’s the positive message from associate dean Melanie Neerhof, whose goal is to work closely with local businesses in St. Thomas and Elgin to unlock the potential of students.
One component of the process is Fanshawe’s program advisory committee which meets with stakeholders to garner feedback.
Neerhof stresses building connections to business and industry leaders results in what she refers to as “exceptional learning opportunities.”
A pair of new business courses are being launched this spring. The introduction of new courses is a priority of Neerhof who sees this as one way to increase enrolment at the campus.
She notes the new bookkeeping and HR courses give working professionals an opportunity to enhance their skillset.
She adds it is one way of ensuring programs meet evolving student and employer needs.
Neerhof adds the courses are being delivered in a flexible fashion for those currently employed.
It’s another example of Fanshawe meeting the needs of the community, says Neerhof, while creating the best possible learning environment.
