There will be no U.S. influence on the beer flowing from one St. Thomas brewery.
A pending deal announced last month that would have seen Railway City Brewing acquired by a U.S. diversified beverage and media group is now off the table.
John Peart, Railway City president, announced Tuesday negotiations with Entertainment Arts Research Inc. (EARI) have failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion and the letter of intent between the two companies is no longer in effect.
EARI announced in February its intention to purchase the award-winning craft brewer, established in 2008 with the aim of honouring the history and heritage of St. Thomas.
At the time, Peart indicated negotiations had been positive and added, “they have made some real positive promises to us and we’re real excited about that.”
In a statement released Tuesday Peart noted, “Railway City will continue to concentrate on what we do best – serving our customers, employees, community and our investors.”
Peart added, the operations of the St. Thomas brewery have not been affected and “we will continue to produce quality craft beers to meet the demand of our customers.”
In January, EARI purchased Bell City Brewing of Brantford.
