As announced in mid-February the largest Danish retailer operating internationally is coming to the Elgin Centre.
The familiar blue and white JYSK logo will greet shoppers this fall and Jay Burstein, Elgin Centre property manager, explains where their new home will be located.
Their Scandinavian-inspired designs range from furniture to accessories for the bedroom, bathroom, living room, dining room and kitchen plus outdoor products.
The first JYSK store in Canada was opened in 1996 in Coquitlam, B.C. Today, JYSK operates over 60 stores in Canada, including locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.
Burstein Elgin says much work has to be undertaken in preparation for a fall opening.
Burstein estimates the retail floor space will be in the range of 26,000 square feet.
Attracting JYSK to the Elgin Centre is not just a win for St. Thomas and area shoppers. Burstein is hopeful the familiar blue and white JYSK logo will help lure other name-brand retailers to the mall.
The first JYSK store opened in 1979 in Denmark’s second largest city of Aarhus.
Today the JYSK Group comprises more than 3,000 stores in over 50 countries worldwide.
