A St. Thomas man is facing a number of charges after setting fire to the door of an apartment building Monday morning.
Police were called to the disturbance, where residents who were home at the time reported speaking to the accused through the door before hearing liquid being poured on the door and smelling smoke.
The fire was safely extinguished, with the man located a short distance away at a downtown soup kitchen and taken into custody without incident.
A replica firearm and several break and enter tools were seized during processing.
As a result, the 30 year old male from St. Thomas was charges with Arson, Possession of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order x4, Breach of Release Conditions x6 and Possession of Break and Enter Tools.
He was held for a court appearance.
