Community Spotlight: Local Kettle Campaign raises $154,216 for Salvation Army programs

The 2021 Christmas Kettle Campaign has wrapped up, with the Salvation Army St. Thomas Citadel surpassing their goal of $150,000.

Volunteers spent the 6 weeks before Christmas out at local businesses, collecting donations with a grand total of $154,216 to support the work the Salvation Army does throughout the year.

Community Ministries Director and Captain, Nyree Bond says of the money collected, a percentage of that was done through the new tip tap options.

With the community coming together to support each other once again, Bond wants to say a big thank you to everyone who had a hand in helping them reach their goal.

Bond adds that with the money collected, they’ll be able to continue to provide supports and new programs, such as their Mobilized Outreach Program.

The annual Christmas Kettle Campaign is the Salvation Army’s only fundraiser of the year.
