The St.Thomas Economic Development Corporation has received high recognition for their work over the past year by the International Economic Development Council.
During their Annual Conference last week, the St. Thomas EDC received a Silver Rank in the category of Economic Development Office of the Year and a Bronze Rank for its Railway City Recovery Plan, a project in the category of Resiliency, Recovery and Mitigation.
myFM spoke with CEO Sean Dyke, who says it’s great to be recognized at the international level.
Dyke says without the drive and resiliency of the local community, awards like these wouldn’t be possible.
And by doing so, Dyke notes how far the city has come in such a short time.
While listening to others speak at the conference in Nashville, Dyke notes that much of the conversations were about what happens now.
When the pandemic began in the spring of last year, St. Thomas faced many of the same hurdles as other communities and the EDC Team quickly determined that there was a role to play, engaging in such projects as…
● Funding for Small Business
● #stthomasproud Packages to Promote Local Producers
● Bring Life and Colour with Large Scale Murals
● Development of an Online Sales Sortal for Artists
● Taking over the Horton Farmers’ Market
