With one resident testing positive on Friday and a second resident plus one staff member testing positive today (Sunday), a confirmed outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at Elgin Manor.
County staff are working closely with Southwestern Public Health on outbreak management and practices. Residents, staff and community members who are determined to be at risk are being contacted to prevent further spread of illness in the home or in the community.
The county advises staff are making every effort to contact families of Elgin Manor residents to update them of the confirmed outbreak.
At this time, Bobier Villa and Terrace Lodge do not have any positive cases among residents or staff.
Friday’s announcement of a positive COVID-19 case at Elgin Manor was the first such case in a long-term care home in the Southwestern Public Health region since June.
