As we prepare to cast our votes in the Federal Election later this month, myFM is giving you a look at the local candidates running for Elgin-Middlesex-London.
Karen Vecchio, who is also the incumbent for the riding, represents the Conservative Party of Canada.
Vecchio was born and raised in the riding, growing up just down the road in Sparta and has successfully completed 2 terms as the Member of Parliament for Elgin-Middlesex-London.
myFM News had the opportunity to sit down with Vecchio, who told us her opinion on the election being called just 2 years after the last.
Taking a look into the party platform for the Conservative Party, Vecchio says the major focus is of course the recovery of Canada.
How they hope to do that? Vecchio says they will put a major focus on securing jobs, both full and part time, as well as the wages they pay.
Another major focus for Canadians, which became a heightened issue during the pandemic, is access to good, affordable childcare. Vecchio says the Conservatives have a plan in place for families paying out of pocket.
She adds that it’s important that childcare isn’t treated as a one size fits all issue.
As far as her personal platform, it’s all about our local communities.
During her time out speaking with the constituents, Vecchio says one things that she continues to hear, is the need for stability in our lives.
And as far as why you should put your vote towards Karen Vecchio and the Conservative Party of Canada, she had this to say.
