Community Spotlight: BC Transit driver displays his support for St. Thomas Olympian Celina Toth

St. Thomas native Celina Toth makes her Olympic debut today and her partner in Victoria, B.C. just had to get a good luck message to her. Being a bus driver for BC Transit, it didn’t take long for Stephen Baines to focus his sentiments in the right direction. That entailed lining up five buses – including three double-deckers – to personalize a message for Toth on their destination boards.

The #TOKYO 2020NE | FLY | HIGH | CELINA | #TOKYO 2020NE message is not quite like having your name in lights, but it’s a pretty unique form of inspirational bring-home-a-medal message.

While Baines was not allowed to attend because of restrictions in Tokyo, the five buses clearly illustrate the road he would like to see Toth – who now calls Victoria home –  take toward an Olympic medal.

Of course, Baines and friends will be cheering loudly tonight in Victoria. As will the friends and family of Toth in St. Thomas.

Should Toth bring home the silverware, those buses might very well be sporting Olympic medalist Celina Toth across their destination boards.
