As Manager of Communications and Engagement at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, one of the biggest challenges Beilhartz encounters is keeping up with the rapidly evolving information landscape. She stresses communication today is focussed on two-way interaction. And of course, promoting the wonderful efforts of the gifted staff at the hospital.
Beilhartz admits she has always had an interest in marketing and promotion. She discovered a communications course in university and, as she says, “I fell in love with it.”
She spent much of her communications career in London, but notes “I always kept my eye on the hospital here for opportunities in communications here, and when something presented itself, I jumped at the chance to work here in my home community.”
For anyone interested in entering the communications field, Beilhartz has this piece of advice. Take the time to build expand your contact base and build a personal network.
The year she turned 40 was significant on two fronts, advises Beilhartz, something she calls “her greatest accomplishment.”
