The St. Thomas Islamic Centre will be hosting a vigil tonight to honour the family taken in Sunday’s deadly vehicle attack.
In support of their neighbors and community members in London, the centre located at 55 Southwick Street, will be holding the vigil to allow local residents to mourn from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Iffat Farooqui, volunteer with the St. Thomas Islamic Centre says the news of the attack has shocked to the entire community, but even more so for those who knew the family.
They were out doing something they did everyday when their lives were hatefully taken from them she says.
The vigil held Tuesday in London did help to bring some sense of closure says Farooqui.
The St. Thomas Islamic Centre does ask those planning to attend to follow all public health guidelines in place, including mask wearing and social distancing.
