Today 94.1 myFM and Fanshawe Career and Employment Services St. Thomas are shining a light on 9 amazing individuals, businesses, organizations and support staff that have stepped up and made a positive difference in our community throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Coping with the pandemic as we endure a second year of coronavirus restrictions can best be accomplished through understanding and patience, advises Natalie Redman.
As Executive Director of Victim Services Elgin, she adds supporting each other at home and at work also works wonders.
A major adjustment for Redman and her team is having to rely more on phone calls when dealing with clients instead of personal visits. Having that voice on the other end to talk to is so important, advises Redman. However, if absolutely necessary she stresses they will attend to the needs of a client.
And that, adds Redman, has been one of the more difficult challenges faced by Victim Services Elgin. As executive director, however, ensuring the safety of clients and her team members is a top priority.
With an 18 per cent increase in calls over last year, Redman emphasizes the importance of being there when needed by clients. Knowing, in spite of the pandemic, the team is able to assist them.
