A St. Thomas family had just seconds to flee the blaze Thursday afternoon that heavily damaged their rented home and claimed most of their possessions. Sherry Lynn Abbey and her three children ages 14, 10 and six escaped uninjured while firefighters rescued two pets. Sadly their chihuahua Tanzie has since succumbed to smoke inhalation. Her eldest daughter set up a GoFundMe page in an effort to quickly find a new home for the family.
The family is currently housed at a St. Thomas motel.
