Two positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified by Southwestern Public Health at Elgin Court Public School in St. Thomas.
The Thames Valley District School Board immediately notified staff, and parents and guardians of all Elgin Court Public School students. The school will remain open and school buses will continue to operate.
The health unit is currently investigating the cases and is in the process of identifying close contacts and following up directly to provide specific testing advice.
SWPH investigators will only contact students and staff identified as a close contacts. If someone is not contacted by the SWPH investigators, they are not considered to be at risk.
There are now 8 active COVID-19 cases linked to schools in Elgin/St. Thomas, with 4 at East Elgin Secondary School in Aylmer, 1 at Parkside Collegiate Institute in St. Thomas and, 1 at Forest Park Public School in St. Thomas.
