The City of St. Thomas has officially announced their plans for the new and improved transit system that is set to launched in early 2021.
This morning, (Nov 3) the city unveiled a new revitalized brand and suite of services for the 150 year old public transit service that is consistent with the past, present and future of St. Thomas, which will now be known as Railway City Transit.
Some of the key new service enhancements will include:
• Extended Monday to Friday hours from 5:45pm to 9:45pm.
• Extended Saturday hours from 5:45pm to 9:45pm
• New Sunday service from 9:15am to 5:45pm
• Expanded coverage of the Industrial Area
• More frequent east/west service from the west end of Talbot, stopping at the SmartCentres hub and ending at the Elgin Centre.
In addition, new stops, shelters, passenger amenities and the transit hubs at the SmartCentres and Elgin Centre locations will be upgraded with larger shelters and seating areas.
The city says that over the next few months, the final preparations will be implemented and a new ride guide will be coming soon.
