Aylmer Mayor Mary French this week is dealing with the backlash from a weekend Freedom Rally attended by several hundred people, many of them from outside the area.
The event attracted about 300 people and French adds it was not strictly a rally opposed to the wearing of masks.
The protesters were not wearing masks and that has French and town residents concerned for the future.
While the rally was on town property for part of the time, French stresses it was not endorsed by the municipality.
She adds the concern now is whether there is a spike in COVID-19 cases in Aylmer and Malahide Township in the coming days.
